Moths of the Great Lakes Tank

Moths of the Great Lakes! Truly, who doesn’t love our furry friends? This is a small selection of common moths in our wonderful little lake ecosystem:

Hummingbird Clearwings (Hemaris Thysbe): While most moths are nocturnal, this fella loves sunshine and is active during the day! They beat their wings at high speeds to suspend themselves, just like hummingbirds!

Isabella Tiger Moth (Pyrrharctia Isabella): This beauty’s caterpillar is the beloved Woolly Bear, who’s brown band is used to predict the severity of winter (wide band = mild, narrow band = harsh).

Luna Moth (Actius Luna): These gorgeous and ethereal moths spin the tails of their wingtips in circles to disorient bats enough to escape! 

Spongy Moth (Lymantria Dispar): Most will know a different name for this particular moth before it was appropriately renamed to Spongy Moth in 2022! This is an invasive moth that haunts every screen door in the Great Lakes region; it’s kind of a menace, & lucky it’s cute!

Wash Instructions:

• Machine wash garment inside out using cold water and mild detergent
• Tumble dry low
• Do not bleach
• Do not iron on decoration

Exchange & Return Policy:

• Got the wrong size? We accept exchanges if the garment has been unwashed and unworn (besides trying the shirt on). We do not accept exchanges on shirts that have been well worn, stained, or have been machine washed and/or tumble dried. Email tl@tl-luke.com for more information!
